in February of 2026:

SAE 2026-01-5009 - Validation of a Legacy-Compatible Vehicle Communication Interface for the Retrieval of Crash Data from Passenger Vehicles

In addition, Crash Pulse Technologies submitted a validation

Is the CDX compatible with CDR Software?

Yes. The CDX is capable of communicating with existing hardware, cables, the Bosch CDR software for the retrieval of crash data from legacy vehicles. The CDX can be programmed to interface with custom software as well (see the CDX Programmers Edition).

It is important to note that Crash Pulse Technologies and the CDX are not affiliated with or endorsed by Bosch, Vetronix, or the Federal Government.

Why did you build this kit?

When the legacy VCI was discontinued in 2023, crash investigators were left without a reliable hardware solution for imaging of legacy vehicles. The CDX was designed to fill that critical gap, delivering a stable, fully compatible VCI along with custom-built cables and adapters to ensure a solution to the supply chain issue the industry faced. There’s no longer any need for costly, time-consuming migration workarounds, or dealing with products involving hacked translation software.

Will I need to modify my software or workflows?

No. The CDX is a hardware solution that provides functional equivalence to the discontinued CANplus VCI. It communicates with Bosch CDR software without requiring modifications to existing imaging workflows. Software licenses must be purchased directly from the original manufacturer.

It is important to note that Crash Pulse Technologies and the CDX are not affiliated with or endorsed by Bosch, Vetronix, or the Federal Government.

Are you affiliated with Bosch or Vetronix?

No, Crash Pulse Technologies is not affiliated with Bosch, Vetronix, or the Federal Government.

What’s included in the kit?

The CDX Kit includes the CDX VCI, essential adapters and cables (DLC, PCM, DTM, and more), USB serial cables, a DLC cable, a DB15 extension cable, and a custom power cable.
